DEAD
LANE CROSS OLD NEWS PAGE 3
Hooray, we
had a great day at the Inter-bands Footy Tournament, and CAME
LAST!!! The scores in the three matches we played were 0-3, 0-5
and 1-1.
This is what we won :

We are very
pleased with it, will display it with pride on the wall of the
Rehearsal Room, and hope to defend our unbeaten record at next
year's tournament. The winners were THE BALLISTICS. Congratulations
to them.
The Dead Lane
Cross/Skinticket team, (5 plus 2 subs) were: Barney, Ceri, Linden,
Terry, Marc, Ray & Ant.
Here
is the scorer of Dead Lane Cross's only goal, enjoying a
well-earned Fanta Fruit Twist, as is his wont.
And
here are a couple of pics of the team relaxing during the tournament:
(PROBABLY) THE NEXT APPEARANCE BY
DEAD LANE CROSS
(but hmm, not
playing music.....)
On Saturday 11th December, at Bourne Park, Ipswich, from 12 noon until dark, there will be an
INTER-BANDS
5-A-SIDE FOOTBALL THING!!!
This is to
raise money for a well-ambitious project to record & release
a compilation CD of tracks by bands from the Ipswich area. And
because it will be a good laugh. (No admission charge, but contributions
gratefully received.)
Dead Lane Cross,
much against our better judgement, are preparing to face ridicule
& humiliation by fielding a side for the above event... Please
come & give us your support, which we will be badly in need
of as we are going to be ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH.
DLC go into the studio
this coming Thursday (25th November) to record a 5-track demo
of very recent material - this will be widely circulated for publicity
purposes, and will probably also be available to the DLC Crowd.
Fans' Page
from 28th October now in the Gallery.
Had
a great time at the Riverside Club gig - Skinticket were
ace, and inspired serious mosh. Pics of them in action will hopefully
soon appear on their own website, which is awaited with eager
anticipation. Many thanks to our friends & fellow-crushers
Methods of Punishment, with whom we hope to be doing a
considerable amount of gigging before too long.
We wanted to commemorate our friend and hero John Peel at the
gig - a One Minute's Silence seemed sort of inappropriate, so
we & the other bands opted for a One Minute's Memorial THRASH
instead! We were delighted that the noble Moshpit rose to the
occasion magnificently.....

Photos
from the gig are now in the Gallery, with Fans' Page to follow
shortly.....
DLC and their management/admin want
to express their sadness & shock at the news of John Peel's
death, and their appreciation of all he did for music and for
so many bands, including DLC. Living in the same area, several
of us have known John & his family for some years, and send
our best wishes & sympathy to Sheila, William, Danda, Tom
& Flossie.

Had a great
time in Wales! The Monkey Bar is a weird & cool venue full
of stairs & music. Thanks to the organisers, the sound man,
the other bands, and everyone who came up & spoke to us -
an ace crowd altogether. The headlining band was Hondo Maclean,
and the first band on were Roachville, with whom we have
exchanged links (we'd link to HM's site as well, but it doesn't
seem to be doing much at the moment). Hondo Maclean's drummer
lent Barney his kit, which was rack-mounted & quite differently
set up from Barney's so Buzz had to do a bit of homework before
the set, but he managed OK & it sounded fine - DLC are much
obliged to Hondo Maclean's drummer! And also to Roachville's bass
player for letting Terry use his amp - saved us having to lug
Terry's bloody great Marshall combo up all those stairs! - and
their guitarist for lending Ceri his amp.

Oops, Barney's
fallen off his stool again.....
We
were well pleased with the response to our set. We hope to play
down in that area again before too long, and also hope to bring
Roachville up to Suffolk - Suffolk crowd, we think you'd appreciate
them, especially those of you who are into Methods of Punishment.
A
couple more gigs in Suffolk are likely soon, and we hope to set
up another Riverside Club gig in the near future. Looks like we
may be going down to Kent in November - and also in November,
BARNEY
