DEAD
LANE CROSS OLD NEWS PAGE 2
Briefly:
DLC came SECOND in the Battle of the Bands at the Ice Bar! And
someone said it was a CLOSE second. We were just playing it as
a gig, didn't think the old hardcore metal would get anywhere
in a mixed-style competition. Bloody hell, crate of cheap champagne
as well...! Most pleasing.
Respect
to the other bands: Meat City, who won; The Wah, whom Barney in
particular liked a lot, who came third; Dyslexic 7, Full Collapse,
and One:Day:Life. Many thanks to soundman James and stage manager
Ian. Also thanks to the Celebrity Moshpit.

THIS
MUST BE THE SHORTEST NOTICE YET.....
DLC
are playing at the All-Dayer at the Ice Bar, Ipswich,
on Bank Holiday Monday 30th May! This is a Battle of the
Bands thing. DLC are due to play at 5 p.m.
(Not sure which other
bands are playing - for details of the Certain Amount of Confusion
surrounding this event, check out a couple of past threads on
the Ipswich
Gigs Forum ).
Anyway,
we're definitely playing - despite our reservations on the subject
of music as competition, a large contingent of noble DLC Followers
supporting us would be very welcome.....
Saturday 30th April was Barney &
Jane's Wedding Day.

A fine array of
ties & smartness.....

.....and later,
a celebratory mosh.
Thanks
to Ozzie & Stuart for inviting us onto their wireless programme
the other night - a very exhilarating experience - Ceri broke
a string during Fakes & Lies, which consequently sounded
somewhat different from usual in its later stages.....
If the
next few weeks look a bit lacking in DLC gigs, that's because
Barney will be touring Germany with Kip Keino in a few
days' time, and then he & Jane are getting married. After
that, normal service will be resumed with a vengeance (and hopefully
a Riverside Club gig!.....).
Meanwhile,
work goes on towards getting the new E.P. ready for distribution.....
DON'T FORGET DLC LIVE
ON IPSWICH COMMUNITY RADIO AT 10 p.m. THIS THURSDAY, 31st MARCH.
www.icrfm.co.uk
DLC
will be playing another gig at the excellent Priors, Bury St.
Edmunds, on Thursday 7th July, with NITCH
and
LIVING
PROOF.
BARNEY'S
TOE IS BETTER NOW.
Assuming
all goes to plan, DLC will be playing live, chatting, & playing
recordings of music they like & which has influenced them,
on Ipswich Community Radio at 10 p.m. on Thursday 31st March.
As far as we know, ICR will still be broadcasting only over the
Net (find it via www.icrfm.co.uk) - they've applied
for the temporary broadcasting licence they're granted every so
often, but we don't know when they'll get it.
BARNEY
HAS BROKEN HIS TOE.....
Thanks
to the Crowd who defied the snow on 21st Feb & came along
to the gig at the Ice Bar - the Manager says he'll be asking us
back for another gig in the Summer...
Pics onsite soon.

We like it...! Many thanks to the incomparable JIM BISCUITS
!
DLC have finished
recording 5 new tracks, which are now being mixed & mastered.
A full-length MP3
of Sorrow from the Falling Like a Bleeding Sky album
can now be downloaded from the BURBS website www.burbs.co.uk.

2
p.m. OK, looks like Ray has managed
to book the Village Hall at STANTON as replacement venue for the
gig this Saturday. Other details as before. It's in the Ixworth
area, not too far from Hessett actually but on the other side
of the A14.
Very sorry, folks, the gig on the 18th
December is cancelled. Relapse cleverly omitted to book
the hall before confirming & publicising the event. We'd like
to make it clear that neither the DLC team nor Skinticket
were responsible for this, as we weren't organising this gig.
As we post this on the site the time is 01.40 on Thursday morning
and we've only just found out about the cancellation - from the
Message Board!
Again, many apologies - we were
looking forward to it as well.....
This
is terrible, the sudden death of another inspirational figure
on the music scene. We owe so much to Dimebag Darrell for his
amazing guitar playing and his great music, especially with Pantera.
Barney in particular has been very influenced by this music, during
the time he spent as a member of Vessel.
R.I.P Dimebag. Thanks, man, so very much - we'll still be listening
to the music.....
